Alcolea Heads Cuban Cycling Team to Venezuela
HAVANA TIMES — The two-time champion of the “Vuelta a Cuba” tour and a bronze medalist at Guadalajara in 2011, Arnold Alcolea, will head the Cuban team cycling in the “Vuelta a Venezuela” tour from July 6 to 15, reports the Cuban News Agency.
According to Tuesday’s announcement by National Cycling Federation president Jose Pelaez, the island will be well represented by Yasmani Martinez, Racso Gonzalez, Jean Carlos Arias, Ramon Lazaro Martinez and Victor Orta.
The South American competition has a category of 2.2 in the International Cycling Union and will have 10 stages along flat routes of the circuit that starts in Maturin and ends in Caracas.
Twenty-four local Venezuelan teams will participating in the competition, as will squads from Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina and two others that still haven’t been confirmed – though they could be from Brazil, the USA or Mexico, read the news note.
