Juantorena Selected Athletic’s Hall of Fame

HAVANA TIMES — The legendary Cuban track star Alberto Juantorena was selected as one of the 24 figures who will enter the Athletics Hall of Fame, whose opening ceremony will take place in Barcelona ??during the International Association of Athletics Federation’s Centennial Gala in November.

Juantorena won gold medals in both the 400 and 800 meter races in the 1976 Montreal Olympics, the only man who has achieved such a feat in the history of the games, recalls the IAAF on its website.

Currently, the former athlete is the president of the Federation of Cuban Athletics and a council member of the IAAF.
