A New Year’s Wish for Cuba
Pedro Campos
HAVANA TIMES — I would like to share my greatest wish for the New Year with my readers: that Cuba find the peaceful means to have all Cubans, without exception, become reconciled, in a country where peace, friendship and respect towards the rights of everyone, including minorities, becomes our daily bread.
I am asking people, not to forget, but to forgive. I do not believe we can build a Cuba for everyone through hatred, arrogance, violence or domination.
I can only hope that all Cubans of good will, those in Cuba and abroad, those who support, oppose or are indifferent towards the government, will be able to find such paths and turn Cuba into a prosperous and peaceful country, where every Cuban has the freedom to act and express themselves as they wish, with no other restriction than that imposed by respect towards the rights of others.
May peace, solidarity, friendship, fraternity, harmony, democracy and the rights of all Cubans prevail in our homes and our country.
!Feliz Ano Nuevo! Instead of watching the ball fall on Times Square, by live streaming I watched the festivities on CubaVision, including the midnight cannonade from La Cabana. The nightclub party was hilarious, especially the “Caballero de Paris,” who came back from the dead for a performance. It was pretty much an all-salsa show; no reggaeton. Reminded me of the parties broadcast by the networks back in the 1950’s, with only big bands and crooners from the 1930’s and 1940’s, rather than the contemporary rock-n-rollers, allowe to see the light of day! Although there are aficionados of all ages, salsa is most popular with the over 30–and at this point, over 40–crowd. Shouldn’t complain, though, as i detest reggaeton.
Cuba people has fight for the rights to speak and act
Viva the cuban revolution
Happy New Year to you Pedro and both sides of the straits! Pax
Amen! I echo your New Year’s wish for Cuba.
Pedro writes, ” where every Cuban has the freedom to act and express themselves as they wish, with no other restriction than that imposed by respect towards the rights of others.” From his lips to God’s ear. Feliz Ano Nuevo a todos.
