Fidel Castro Reappears in Public after 14 Months
HAVANA TIMES — Former Cuban President Fidel Castro, 88, topped the news today in the island’s official media with a story of his reappearance in public earlier this week at a school where a group of Venezuelan’s receive political training and take part in social activities.
Granma newspaper, the voice of the Cuban Communist Party, headlined today with “A casual unforgettable meeting with Fidel”, on his visit to the “Vilma Espin Guillois” school close to his residence on the west side of Havana.
In the report Castro appears in several photos wearing a blue and white Adidas running suit and a black cap. He is shown sitting in a van and greeting the Venezuelans from the window.
Castro encouraged the Venezuelans to work fast to gather signatures demanding that US President Obama stop categorizing Venezuela as a threat to its national security. The petition campaign began nationwide in Venezuela and is taking place in several other countries including Cuba.
According to Granma, Fidel also spoke with the Venezuelans about political work with their country’s youth and the topic of agriculture.
Interesting you mention “freedom” because in Cuba, that is the one thing you don’t have? So I’m curious as to how you define freedom
Ummm he doesn’t believe in God. It’s a bit of z Brocken there, were you to meet him then emm!
“No American Leader is as well respected as Comrade Fidel Castro” Where did you ever get that idea?
A recent poll of Cubans showed Fidel Castro with a 44% approval rating while Barack Obama had 80% . See http://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/world/cuba-poll-2015/
Socialism is built on the will and the experience of a people who have been oppressed and suppressed for ages. These people have seen the difference between the two systems. While capitalism makes them nobodies, socialism brings that human respect to them through education, access to good housing, access to proper medical attention. Socialism props up the human spirit and the human dignity in them. No Creator of man ever intended that a few on this earth must enjoy the fruits of the land while the vast majority live in Squalor and be satisfied with the crumbs which fall from the table of the few. Jesus was crucified for daring to criticize the powers that be, telling them that that was not how His Father intended it to be. Were He to return to earth tomorrow, the CIA would assassinate him for being on the side of the downtrodden. He will be the greatest friend of America if He sides with the rich to exploit the masses.
Leaders like Fidel Castro were specially created to impact the world and its inhabitants. No American Leader is as well respected as Comrade Fidel Castro and all freedom loving peoples of the world should have his photo framed and adorning the portals or the walls of their homes.
The Great leader of men who walks with God.Still inspiring the people and sharing his time . Modesty is in style. Thanks for sharing the photos.
I will meet him one day God willing.
Thank You
One thing Fidel carried though his life has been an enormous anti-American chip on his shoulder. He has lived with it and made it his operating principle. He is notorious for never forgetting a grudge against anybody who crossed him.
By the way, was that sickle-cell comment at Moses a stealthy racist slur of some kind? Classy.
Why would Fidel have a chip on his shoulder? He rules a family dynasty that controls an entire country. I am just a commenter. I have no chip on my shoulder either. Tablets? Sickle cells? You lost me. What does that have to do with Cuba?
Venezuela Reaches the Final Stage of Socialism: No Toilet Paper
“Venezuela’s product shortages have become so severe that some hotels in that country are asking guests to bring their own toilet paper and soap, a local tourism industry spokesman said on Wednesday….”
Nice to see Fidel ‘alive and kicking’ eh Patterson?
One thing that has kept him going is the lack of a chip on his shoulder – unlike yourself. Keep taking the tablets, get your sickle cells checked and grow up!
Nothing like a petition signed by citizens of another country to change US policy. What’s next, hold their breath until we really get scared?
