With Veto-Proof Majority, Seattle City Council Votes to Defund Police by 50%
HAVANA TIMES – In Washington state, a veto-proof majority of the Seattle City Council has backed a proposal to slash the Seattle Police Department’s budget by 50%, reports Democracy Now on Friday.
The Seattle’s mayor and police chief have opposed the move to defund the police in favor of investing in the community.
The decision by the city council would have been unthinkable before the nationwide Black Live Matters protests following the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis. It appears that citizen non-violent protest can achieve results.

The whole country (the US) imploded! Non violent protest is a propaganda driven lie. The protests required the government to call in the military to the worst hot spots. The whole defund the police movement is rooted in a police system that is broken. And will revert back to their old archaic ways when the populace is settled back into their complacent spot.
Whether the decision is correct or not, this demonstrates democracy. Such a change in policy would be impossible in Cuba.
Imagine MININT having the funding for it’s goons halved as a consequence of citizen non-violent protest – indeed imagine non-violent protest being permitted!
Even although finding sufficient food to feed their children is increasingly difficult for families, there is no reduction in expenditures upon repression in Cuba, the goons are ever lurking.
