Industriales Takes Lead in Cuba Playoffs

HAVANA TIMES, March 3 — Industriales scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh on route to a 6-4 win over Sancti Spiritus on Wednesday and took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven quarterfinal playoff.

Leugim Barroso drove in the tying run on an infield grounder and Jokel Acosta the two that made the difference with a hit to center.

Twenty year old reliever Armando Martinez allowed the feared Sancti Spiritus lineup only one hit in the final 2.1 innings to pick up the win.  The losing pitcher was Sancti Spiritus reliever Yamichel Perez.

Later on Wednesday, Habana Province hosts Cienfuegos, Villa Clara is at home against Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo plays in Ciego de Avila.
