HT-Cuba Photo Contest Finalists Revealed
HAVANA TIMES, August 3 — The finalists for the 3rd HT Cuba Photo Contest include at least one picture from 24 of the 40 persons who submitted their work.
During the final round of selection, the 19-member jury reporting from eight countries made a first place, second and third place choice in each of the four categories: The Color Red in Cuba, Cuban Women, Cubans Working and Cuban Beaches.
To tabulate the winners, 10 points was given to each first place selection, 5 to second and 3 to third. The winners will be announced on Friday August 5th.
The contest judging began in mid-July with over 300 photos to consider. The first round eliminated two-thirds of the pictures and then in the semifinal second round the selection was reduced to 13 in each category.
So have a close look and make your picks. In a couple days you will be able to compare them with what the jury came up with.

I hope my friend wins, but when I am in Cuba in October I will take lots of good pictures like I did last October. Hope I will find out about the contest.
Wow!!! I am truly honored that one of my photos has made it into the finals – very stiff competition!

From the beginning, I have said that, if one of my photos wins a prize, I will share the money equally with the person in the picture. I would like to challenge the other finalists to do the same, if they are comfortable with that and if it is possible.

Lawrence, we will be holding the 4th HT Cuba Photo Contest in 2012 and look forward to your participation. It will most like take place between February and June.

I had wished I had known about this photo contest much earlier. I could have requested premission to come to Cuba for this. My speciality is in in color still photography going back some 20 years. Can you please keep me informed about furhter contests?
