Rina to bring rain to Havana, storm-force winds on Saturday

Due to the slow movement of Hurricane Rina and conditions in the upper atmosphere, this will decrease the storm’s intensity over the coming days. However, the period is expected to see plenty of rainfall, especially from late afternoon on Saturday until Tuesday.

High temperatures will around 26°C (79°F) and lows will drop to around 24°C (75°F).

On Saturday we can expect sustained winds associated with Rina moving at speeds of around 120 km/h (74 mph), with gusts of up to 148 km/h (90 mph). Those in the areas to be affected should pay close attention to the forthcoming advisories and take all necessary precautions during this time.

The sea surface temperature will be around 27°C (81°F).

No tropical cyclonic developments are expected in the remaining areas of the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico over the next 24 to 48 hours.
