Cuba Less Threatened by TS Rina

HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 27 — Tropical Storm Rina is hours away from a possible landing on the Mexican Yucatan peninsula and the latest projections for its path afterwards are favoring Cuba.

Rina has gradually debilitated from a Category 2 Hurricane to a tropical storm and now packs winds of 60 mph (95 kph).

The storm is moving north parallel to the Yucatan coast at a speed of 7 mph (11 kph) noted the Cuban Weather Service INSMET in their latest advisory.

At 6:00 pm. Cuban time (EDT) the center of TS Rita was located by INSMET at 45 miles (70 kms) south-southwest of Cozumel, Mexico.

The Cuban weather forecasters see the storm moving east sometime Friday, slowing in its movement speed and possibly dropping to the Tropical Depression category storm by Saturday.
