Cuba’s Raul Castro Meets with Rev. Kinnamon

HAVANA TIMES, Dec 1 — On Wednesday, President Raul Castro met with Reverend Michael Kinnamon, the general secretary of the National Council of Churches of Christ in the United States, who is heading a delegation of religious leaders from different denominations on a visit to Cuba.

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed working relations between the Council of Churches of Cuba and churches in the United States with the aim of achieving the normalization of relations between the two countries.

The church official spoke to reporters about the willingness expressed by the Cuban leader to enter into talks with the US government on any matter, assuming these would take place on the basis of mutual respect. Areas identified as ones of common interest included combating drug trafficking and terrorism, as well as responses to natural disasters.
