Injured Cuban Pitcher Out of Danger

HAVANA TIMES, Jan 5 — Former Cuban pitcher Norge Luis Vera, now out of danger, held an emotional meeting with his Santiago de Cuba teammates, who visited him yesterday, reported Prensa Latina.

Vera remains in the intensive care unit of the provincial hospital though “there is now no indication of danger to his life,” according to one of the doctors treating him. The physician added, “His condition is reported as less severe and his vital parameters are within normal limits.”

Today the pitcher will undergo magnetic resonance imaging examinations of his skull, while orthopedic doctors will determine whether the fracture to his left hip will require surgery.
