Panama Court Upholds Sentence on Posada Carriles
HAVANA TIMES, Jan 16 — A Panamanian court confirmed in their absence the sentence against Luis Posada Carriles and four other Cubans who threatened that country’s national security, reported local newspaper La Prensa on Saturday.
Through a ruling that was communicated to the parties, the court upheld all judgments handed down in April 2004, when Posada Carriles was sentenced to eight years in prison after it was proven that he had planned to kill President Fidel Castro while visiting Panama in 2000.
In 2004 the terrorists were unconstitutionally pardoned by the then Panamanian president Mireya Moscoso.
Posada Carriles had previously admitted to being the mastermind of the 1976 bombing of a Cubana Airlines commercial flight in which all 73 people aboard were killed. He currently lives freely in Miami.
