Cuban Draws in the Tata Steel Chess Tournament
HAVANA TIMES, Jan 16 — Cuban chess master Lazaro Bruzon ended in a draw on Sunday with the Dutch player Dimitri Reinderman during the second round of the Group B competition of the Tata Steel Tournament, being held in the city Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands.
According to the Prensa Latina report, the Caribbean player — with an ELO 2691 — signed the armistice with the dark pieces in 31 moves, though he still managed to score in the competition.
In the tournament, Bruzon was previously defeated by India’s Pentala Harikrisha, but today he hopes to defeat Alexander Motylev of Russia, with the aim of moving up from his position of eleventh in the standings.
