New Tourist Destinations in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, Jan 19 — The western province of Matanzas began implementing a new tourist information system to enhance visits to seldom-visited attractions, reports the Granma newspaper today.

After research into the matter, efforts have begun to promote sites like the Palmar de Junco (one of the longest running active baseball stadiums in the world), and the Zapata Marsh Reserve, which currently serves 3,000 thousand “eco-visitors” each month.

The measure seeks to expand alternatives beyond the province of Havana by promoting local and city tourism.
