Hugo Chavez Talks to Venezuela from Cuba
HAVANA TIMES, March 5 — President Hugo Chavez sent a message to the people of Venezuela through a video recording on Saturday from Havana, where he is recovering from surgery on the same area of his pelvis where he suffered cancer last year.
After a nine day absence from the television cameras, on this occasion the president appeared accompanied by several ministers and his older brother Adan Chavez, reported AP.
His message to the nation sought to inform people about his medical condition and to dispel any rumors concerning health complications.
The Venezuelan leader confirmed that the tumor removed was a recurrence of cancer, but he ruled out its metastasizing as well as the existence of any infections in other organs of his body.
Chavez said that will undergo radiation treatments “without discarding other complementary therapies.”
