Cuba Explains Its Economic Reforms at UN
HAVANA TIMES, March 29 — Under the theme of “The Economic and Social Panorama of Latin America and the Caribbean and Prospects for 2012,” Cuba’s representative to the UN, Pedro Nunez, spoke Wednesday at that organization’s headquarters in New York, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
Speaking to the plenary committee of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Cuban representative stressed the importance of the process of “updating” the island’s economic model, which he considers in accord with the general thinking of the commission.
During the visit to Havana by the executive secretary of the commission, Alicia Barcena, ECLAC and Cuba agreed last month to expand their bilateral cooperation agenda.
