OAS Pressuring the US to Include Havana in Future Summits
HAVANA TIMES, April 26 — The secretary general of the Organization of American States, Jose Miguel Insulza, said on Tuesday in Washington that the inclusion of Cuba in the next Summit of the Americas is a problem that the US must solve.
“Is it worth maintaining an artificial situation for the rest of the countries in the region, and indeed to defend a policy that has not been successful in 50 years?” Insulza asked, in reference to the US blockade against the island.
According to the AFP report, Insulza was open to exploring a rapprochement with Havana, but he admitted that the only contact so far has been through common forums such as the Ibero-American Summit organized by Spain.
