International Gender Discrimination Conference Underway in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES — The Fourth International Conference on Women, Gender and the Law began on Tuesday in Havana and will meet for three days with the nearly 200 participants, including lawyers, psychologists and sociologists, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

The event, organized by the National Union of Jurists of Cuba and the Federation of Cuban Women, will discuss the situation of women from a legal perspective and will review expressions of discrimination within existing legislation.

The conference is being attended by professionals from Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil, Costa Rica, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Guatemala, Uruguay, Venezuela, the United States, Spain, Norway, Indonesia and Cuba.
