More Cases of Cholera plus Dengue Discovered in Havana
HAVANA TIMES — Sources on the island surveyed over the weekend reported at least five deaths from dengue and six cases of cholera in the Cuban capital, reported the Café Fuerte website.
An employee of the Ministry of Public Health, who requested anonymity, told Café Fuerte in Havana that “rumor has it that there have been about five to ten deaths from dengue,” though any exact figure is not know because information is being handled “very mysteriously.”
“They’re considering doing massive fumigations, instead of simply going house-to-house, as well as taking more drastic measures, but the higher-ups don’t want to create panic among the public,” said the Public Health employee to the website.
Meanwhile, independent sources on Sunday reported the existence of at least six cases of cholera in the capital.
