Brouwer-Flamenco Project Tour

HAVANA TIMES — The Brouwer-flamenco Guitar Project, which performed at the recently concluded Leo Brouwer Festival of Chamber Music, will tour several countries, said the group’s leader, Cuban-born guitarist Joshua Tacoronte.

“People need to hear how the music of the maestro sounds within flamenco, that’s why we have to keep moving around,” he said to the Prensa Latina news agency. Tacoronte added, “The journey that began on the island and is continuing in Mexico, where we have already done a preview that people really liked.”

In 2013 the group will perform in at least two festivals, one in March in Querétaro, Mexico, and one in Ensenada in May.

Though no details were given about the other countries where Brouwer-flamenco will play, Tacoronte recalled that they did perform in July earlier this year in Peru, where they were well received by the audience.
