Cuban Playwright to Premiere in Havana after Success in the US
HAVANA TIMES — Renowned Cuban dramatist Nicolas Dorr will soon be seeing the Havana debut of his most recent work “Breve temporada de invierno” following its world premiere in New York, reported the Prensa Latina news agency
The new piece by the playwright and novelist is dedicated to the famous Cuban singer and actress Rosa Fornes, who inspired this sentimental comedy, according to Dorr.
The play, which will open on December 1 at the Adolfo Llaurado Theater, is starring Daisy Dorr and Juan Julio Alfonso. The work had its world premiere earlier this year at the Latino Theater Festival in New York, under the direction of Puerto Rican artist Josean Ortiz.
The descendent of a renowned family linked to the stage, Dorr has written more than 20 plays and performed and/or published in a host of countries. Many of his works are now icons on the Cuban and international scene, as is the case with “Las Pericas.”
