Chavez Gets Visit in Cuba from Maduro
HAVANA TIMES — Venezuelan VP Nicolas Maduro arrived in Cuba early Saturday to visit his country’s leader Hugo Chavez, recovering from his fourth operation in an undisclosed part of his “pelvic region” to fight cancer. Chavez has been in Havana since December 9.
Hector Navarro, the current minister of the electric sector, was designated by Maduro to take his place while he visits Chavez.
The Venezuelan government continues to state that Chavez recovery “is evolving positively from his six hour surgery”, notes TeleSur.
Maduro was met at the Jose Marti Airport by Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodríguez.
No mention was made whether Maduro would also be meeting with Cuban leaders Raul and Fidel Castro.
