Pinar Del Rio Triumphs in Female Basketball Championship

HAVANA TIMES — The women’s team from Pinar del Rio Province became champion of the Superior Basketball League after beating Santiago de Cuba on Sunday in the sixth game of the final series, reported JIT Online.

Pinar del Rio won by a large 96-61 margin and with four wins against only two setbacks to the winners of two previous championships.

Among the outstanding players in the game were Anileydis Galindo, who led with 21 points scored, followed by her companions Arlenis Romero and Taymi Fernandez (17), Arletis Povea (15) and Yelina Bravo (10).
