Cuban Parliament to Session in July

HAVANA TIMES – Cuban Parliament President Esteban Lazo, convened Sunday in Havana the first regular session of the current legislature of the National Assembly of Popular Power.

The session will be held on July 6 at the Havana Convention.

This is the first meeting of the new Cuban legislature, after being constituted on February 24 following general elections carried out earlier this year. It is also the first session to be presided over by Lazo who replaced Ricardo Alarcon.

The Cuban parliament usually meets twice a year for a couple days each session.  It’s main mission has traditionally been to approve laws already passed by decree by the executive led by Raul Castro and previously by Fidel Castro.
