Carlos Mejia Godoy – Song of the Day

Today’s featured artist is Carlos Mejia Godoy with Los de Palacaguina from Nicaragua with the song “El Meon” (The pisser) (2000).

This is the third crackdown of the week on NGOs and associations. The latest 151 organizations eliminated belonged to the business sector.

As expected by all concerned, today’s announcement tries to close the door on any challenges and leave Maduro in power until 2031.

The thinking goes: Organized civil society in all its forms must be eliminated and total dependence on the government fomented.

The National Assembly approved laws obligating non-profit organizations to work in partnership with the Ortega-Murillo government.

“Effects have been found in every area of the children’s lives, be it on a family, psychosocial, social, or economic level,”

The Attorney General’s Office will transfer the properties and other assets of the closed organizations to the State of Nicaragua.

The big surprise at the Caracas gathering was the reappearance of opposition leader María Corina Machado before thousands of supporters.

Students from the confiscated Jesuit university attempt to continue their studies in other universities but remain mired in uncertainty.
