Angolan Visit to Africa in Cuba

Ms. Rosa Cruz e Silva, the Angolan minister of Culture, visited Cuba at the invitation of Cuban Minister of Culture Abel Prieto. Among the activities carried out by Ms. Cruz in Havana was a visit to the Casa de Africa museum, where she participated in a press conference and delighted in the presentations of age-old African cultures presented at the institution. Special markets (known as agricultural fairs) are being held in all the municipalities of the capital on the last weekend of the month (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday). The Tlaxcala Folkloric Ballet was recently in Cuba for a series of performances. We took in the one put on by the Casa de Mexico of Havana and the Old Havana Historian’s Office that featured the troupes youth performers. Paintings in Havana by Cuban 5 Prisoner

Antonio Guerrero has a painting exhibition of birds currently showing at the Pabellon Cuba facility on busy 23rd St. in the Vedado District of Havana. Guerrero could not attend the showing as he has been imprisoned for over 12 years in the United States, along with four other members of the Cuban Five, accused of conspiracy to commit espionage and other charges.
