Cuban Children’s Day in Alamar

HAVANA TIMES — This past Sunday, as usual, Alamar looked like a sleeping city. But in one of its areas, zone seven, something made it break that spell and awaken that part of the neighborhood from its daily apathy.
Never mind the blazing sun or the lack of electricity, the clowns were shouting again and the congas bought their contagious music.
The residents had prepared food and drink for snacks, some Puerto Ricans added candy and pelotas.
More than a thousand colored balloons turned the morning into something different.
It was Cuban Childrens’ Day, the third Sunday of each July, and parks, cultural centers and other public spaces around the country were the scene of fun activities.
