Adolfo Perez Esquivel at University Congress in Cuba

HAVANA TIMES, Feb 14 — Argentinian Nobel Peace Prize laureate Adolfo Perez Esquivel today opened the scientific sessions of the eighth University Congress, which will be held for another four days at the University of Havana.

After an absence from the island of more than a decade, which he ascribed to as owing to work elsewhere, Perez Esquivel will address the Havana forum on topics concerning “peace and sustainable development,” according to statements by the activist to the Prensa Latina news agency.

Plans for the conference include 13 workshops that will make up the scientific program. In these, nearly 3,000 delegates from 55 countries will discuss more than 2,400 papers, according to the organizers.
