Alicia Alonso to Premiere Two Works at Cuban Ballet Festival

HAVANA TIMES — The famous Cuban dancer Alicia Alonso, 91, will present two world premieres today during the fifth day of the 23rd Havana International Festival of Ballet, reported the Prensa Latina news service.

One of the pieces is inspired by “Acis and Galatea,” by German musician Georg Friedrich Handel, and will be accompanied by a symphonic orchestra made up of the Chamber Orchestra of Havana and the Lyceum Mozarteum.

Alonso, who is the director and founder of the National Ballet of Cuba, will also debut “Nosotros” with primer dancers Annette Delgado and Dani Hernandez, while other works of hers will be staged until November 7, the event’s closing day.
