Canada to Host Tour of Ballet Nacional de Cuba
HAVANA TIMES, Jan 25 — The National Ballet of Cuba will be in Canada from February 3 to 18 on a tour of six cities, announced sources with that company to the Prensa Latina news agency.
The group, directed by Alicia Alonso, will perform in Victoria, Nanaimo, Banff, Kelowna and Chilliwack, and will end their trip in Vancouver, where they will present the full version of the ballet Don Quixote.
On this occasion the company will include in their repertoire other classical pieces such as The Nutcracker and the adagio of the second act of Swan Lake, in addition to choreography essentially Cuban, such as En las sombras de un vals, Dialogo a 4, and Acentos e Idilio.
The dancers of the principal ballet group in Cuba performed this past December in the Canadian city of Hamilton.
