China’s Wu Opera Performs in Cuba
HAVANA TIMES — The Wu Opera, from China’s Zhejiang Province, performed in the Spring Festival in Havana’s Chinatown as part of the troupe’s tour of Latin America and the Caribbean.
The group, also known as the Jinhua Opera, presented 19 of its 140 actors, who impressed the audience with their famed numerous mask changes in the purist of Chuan-style, according to Prensa Latina,
The Wu Opera Art Academy of Zhejiang, which has won a dozen awards and performed in 30 countries, previously performed in Cuba in 2011 with its unique features that include music, dance and parades of masks.
