Comptroller to Control Reconstruction Resources after Hurricane Sandy
HAVANA TIMES — The office of the National Comptroller, currently buried in the struggle against corruption, announced on Monday that it will dedicate its efforts in the provinces of Santiago de Cuba and Guantanamo to controlling resources directed toward reconstruction activities in the wake of the disaster caused by Hurricane Sandy.
According to a press note, that office said it will focus its efforts on “the control of resources received and distributed to the public to address the damage incurred. Work will be done in accordance with the priorities and instructions from the authorities in charge of provincial defense.”
President Raul Castro has said on several occasions that corruption is an enormous problem that confronts his government but that he plans to progressively defeat it.
