Cuba Over Italy, Makes Volleyball Semis
HAVANA TIMES, July 23 — Cuba crushed Italy in straight sets Friday to reach the semifinals in the 2010 World Volleyball League (Mens).
The Cubans now plays Brazil —the tournament favorite— on Saturday hoping to make it the final on Sunday.
Led by spiker Wilfredo Leon (12 points), Fernando Hernandes (11) and Robertlandy Simon (10), Cuba easily took the first game 25-17, struggled hard to win the second 35-33 and took the third 25-22.
In the other semifinal match up, Russia plays Serbia which ended the hopes of host Argentina in straight sets (25-19, 25-18, 28-26).
