Cuba Receives 30 Tons of Humanitarian Aid from Russia
HAVANA TIMES — The Russian government on Thursday sent a plane with 30 tons of humanitarian aid, loaded with building materials, to Santiago de Cuba, one of the Cuban cities devastated by Hurricane Sandy.
According to the dpa report, the Russian plane arrived in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba carrying “window glass, wood, steel boards and nails,” among other materials.
Although there’s still no definitive statement, it is estimated that more than 188,000 homes were damaged in Santiago, while thousands were totally destroyed. The hurricane left a total balance of 11 dead on the island.
