Cuba Stats on Health & Education Assistance
HAVANA TIMES, Jan. 27 – More than 50,000 healthcare professionals from 118 countries have been trained in Cuba’s medical schools, Roberto González Martín, public health deputy minister for teaching and research, announced in his speech at the Pedagogy 2011 Congress, being held in the island’s capital.
Speaking at the same event, Ena Elsa Velázquez, the island’s minister of education, said her country currently cooperates with 28 countries in literacy programs backed by the Yo sí puedo (Yes I Can) and Yo sí puedo seguir (Yes I Can Continue) methods developed in Cuba, reported IPS.
