Cuba Tabs Hurricane Bill’s Moves West

HAVANA TIMES, August 17 – Cuba’s Meteorological Institute continues to monitor Hurricane Bill as the storm moves west from its current position in the Atlantic.

In its fourth advisory issued Monday morning, the Institute notes that the tropical storm turned hurricane continues to gain in organization and strength.  At 11:00 a.m. EST it was moving at 16 MPH in a west-northwest direction and has Maximum Sustained Winds of 90 MPH.

Current projections show the storm moving in the Atlantic, north of the eastern Caribbean islands, on route towards Bermuda.  Cuban forecasters will issue another report on Monday at 6:00 p.m. EST.

Bill is the first hurricane of the season in the Atlantic-Caribbean region.
