HAVANA TIMES, Oct. 20 – A trade delegation from Virginia headed by the state’s commissioner of agriculture and consumer services is expected in Cuba for the Havana International Trade Fair to take place from November 2-7.

Commissioner Todd P. Haymore noted that Viriginia’s top industry is agriculture, exporting US $2.2 billion in 2008.

Virginia’s exports to Cuba have been on the rise over a decade with sales being allowed under a special humanitarian provision (The Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2000) that sidesteps a portion of the US blockade on the island.

The figure in exports to Cuba was US $40 million last year reported the  http://www.wpcva.com website on Tuesday.

The Havana International Trade Fair takes place at the Pabexpo Fairgrounds.
