Cuba to Join Protocol on Explosive Remnants of War
HAVANA TIMES — The Cuban government announced in Geneva on Monday its decision to join the Protocol V on the Explosive Remnants of War, of the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.
“Every year a large number of civilians are killed or injured because unexploded ammunition and explosives are detonated long after conflicts have ended,” said Cuban Ambassador Rodolfo Benítez during the conference.
The ambassador also announced Cuba’s decision to join Protocol IV on Blinding Laser Weapons.
In the next few days the instruments ratifying the two instruments will be formalized with the Secretary General of the United Nations, reads the news note.
