Cuban Schools on Break until Jan. 3

HAVANA TIMES — Cuban authorities announced on Wednesday that since Monday, December 24, educational institutions on the island are on break to “commemorate the 54th anniversary of the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution.”

According to the Granma newspaper, the Ministry of Higher Education has determined that most classes in the country will resume on Thursday, January 3.

“Just like last year in Havana, there is an exception for junior high school students, which has already been discussed and communicated in schools that require it,” clarifies the note.

Adjustments have been made to the school calendar since 2011, reducing the number of weeks of school break to just two.
