Cuba’s Jojazz Competition Goes International

HAVANA TIMES — Beginning with this 15th edition of the JoJazz competition between young jazz artists, scheduled from November 22 to 25 in Havana, it will have an international character, reported the Prensa Latina news agency.

“Many foreign artists have expressed their interest in participating in this meeting of young jazz musicians,” said prominent Cuban musician Jorge Reyes.

In this regard, confirmation was made of the presence this year of percussionist Mike del Ferrro and the Dutch group “Arifa,” whose members are of different nationalities.

As part of JoJazz, a tour will be made of all of the conservatories in the provinces (from Camaguey to Pinar del Rio) with a group of award winning musicians chosen to give workshops and concerts, said the news article.
