Ever Fonseca Wins National Arts Award 2012
HAVANA TIMES — This year’s coveted National Award for Arts was awarded on Thursday to Havana painter, sculptor and ceramist Ever Fonseca, according to a TV news report.
“Only death will stop me,” said Fonseca, a member of the International Association of Artists, who said he was very pleased to have received the recognition.
The artist has put on more than 22 individual exhibitions and has participated in over 400 group showings in 25 countries.
Established in 1994, the National Arts Award is the highest honor given to a living Cuban creator in the visual arts who resides on the island. It is given for the artist’s life’s work and is awarded annually.
