Exhibition of decorated Cuban Fans in Miami

HAVANA TIMES — An exhibition of fans decorated by prominent Cuban artists will open at the Museum of Arts + Design Miami Dade College on September 20, reports the Cubaencuentro website.

Titled “Fans Forever,” the exhibition features approximately 50 works by Wifredo Lam, Rene Portocarrero, Mario Carreño, Mariano Rodriguez, Carlos Enriquez, Cundo Felipe Bermudez, Felipe Orlando and others.

According to the news article, the fans were auctioned in the 1940s to raise funds for Havana’s Santa Maria del Rosario Parish Church, a jewel of Baroque architecture in Cuba.
