Exile Flotilla to Celebrate Pope’s Visit to Cuba
HAVANA TIMES, Jan 18 — A group of Cubans living in Miami plan to celebrate the visit to Cuba of Pope Benedict XVI in March by organizing a flotilla in international waters off the island’s coast, reported Reuters.
“The idea is to have a presence in front of Havana, hoping for them to let us enter. We presume they won’t, nonetheless we will be in international waters applauding the Pope’s visit,” said an activist with the Movimiento Democracia.
This past December, the “Lights of Liberty” flotilla was organized in the same area, where they shot off fireworks and demanded respect for human rights on the island.
