Franco-Cuban Film Showing at the ‘Queer Lisbon Festival’
HAVANA TIMES — The Franco-Cuban movie Havana Muda, by Eric Brach, is being screened at the “Queer Lisbon Film Festival” taking place through September 29 in that European city, reports EFE.
Havana Muda will be competing against works from Brazil, Spain, Chile and Uruguay in the section of the contest devoted to the topic of homosexuality.
Film production from Brazil is the leader in this 16th edition of the event with seven films in the competition, including the entry La novela de las 8 (The 8 p.m. soap opera).
The artistic director of Mix Brazil, Joao Federici, believes that these events will be needed as long as there are homophobic attacks and the mass media “creates confusion” with their stereotypical treatment of people who are gay.
