By Yanet Diaz
HAVANA TIMES — Tropical Storm Danny is currently located in the central tropical Atlantic east of the Lesser Antilles. It moves westward at 10 mph with an estimated minimum central pressure of 1000 milibars and maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, with gusts of up to 65 mph. A strengthening of the tropical storm is forecast, which could become a hurricane in the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, further north in the Atlantic prevails a large high pressure area that extends the axis of the ridge to the west, providing western Cuba with a weak anti-cyclonic flow. Therefore, the prevailing wind in the coming days will be from the South and Southeast, with speeds between 9 to 12 mph. Some scattered rains are possible in the afternoons due to daytime heating.
High temperatures will range between 33 and 35° C (91 and 95 F), and the lows will range around 25° C (77 F).
The sea surface temperature will remain at 30° C (86 F).
It is recommended to closely follow the evolution of Tropical Storm Danny in the coming days.
