Irish Folk Musician Mick Moloney Performs in Cuba
HAVANA TIMES – The Irish folk musician Mick Moloney performs today at the Cuban Art Factory in Havana, the first of two concerts. He will be accompanied by local groups of bagpipers and tap dancers, reported Prensa Latina.
Besides the musician and scholar, traveling to Cuba from Ireland are veteran violinist Athena Tergis, accordionist Billy McComiskey and dancers Leni Sloan and Niall O’Leary.
The second installment will be on Saturday in the Miramar Theatre, where the Havana laud and bagpipe groups will also perform and the Irish Tap Group.
While in Cuba, Moloney will also speak on the role of the banjo in Irish music, and hold an exchange with artists from Opera de la Calle Company.
