Mariela Castro at Meeting in Uruguay
HAVANA TIMES – Mariela Castro, who assists the First Regional Meeting on Population and Development in Montevideo, said today that Cuba has made progress with the in the defense of sexual and reproductive rights.
The Director of the National Sex Education Center (CENESEX) said in an interview on Uruguayan National TV, that there are many people around the globe who believe that Cuba is in the forefront in that fight.
Raul Castro’s daughter said tha the Cuban strategy emphasizes the promotion of respectful dialogue on gender issues, teen pregnancy, youth, abortion and homosexuality. She noted that significant progress has been made, but there are still goals to accomplish.
The event opened on Monday, with over 700 delegates from Latin America and the Caribbean.
