President of French Senate Rejects EU & US Sanctions on Cuba
HAVANA TIMES — The president of the French Senate, Jean-Pierre Bel, on Tuesday called for the lifting of the European Union’s (EU) “Common Position” against Cuba and an end to the US blockade of the island, reported Prensa Latina.
“The common position is an outdated policy,” said Bel in an interview with journalist Salim Lamrani published on the website Operamundi. The legislator spoke in favor of the evolution of the bloc’s approach to the Caribbean nation.
With regard to relations between France and Cuba, the president of the upper house of the French Parliament said they are at a crucial stage and that there’s very strong will in his country to deepen its historical ties with Cuba.
