Raul Castro to Attend Summit in Brazil
HAVANA TIMES — Cuban President Raul Castro will head his country’s delegation to the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, “Rio +20”, scheduled to run from today through Friday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
According to an article published in Cuba’s official Granma newspaper, the delegation will also consist of the island’s Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, and Elba Rosa Perez, the Minister for Science, Technology and the Environment.
The forum, which brings together presidents and leaders of the region, will continue along the course of the 1992 Earth Summit and other high-level meetings on sustainable development that have been held over the last 20 years.
