Rubio and Diaz-Balart Invited to celebrate Pinochet
HAVANA TIMES — On Sunday June 10, a controversial documentary about Augusto Pinochet, organized by Corporación Once de Septiembre, will screen at the Caupolicán Theater in Santiago de Chile as part of a tribute to the former dictator.
According to the Chilean publication The Clinic Online, VIP invitees include: US Senator Marco Rubio, US Congressman Mario Díaz-Balart, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Giménez, Florida State Senator Anitere Flores, Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado, and the President of the Juventud Anticastrista (Anti-Castro Youth) Yasser Torres.
The host and President of Corporación Once de Septiembre, Juán Gonzáles, retired officer of Pinochet’s army, recently defended the tribute in an interview with CNN in which he claimed that the dictatorship did not violate human rights and he is out to set the record straight.
Meanwhile his sister, Francisca González, former political prisoner and author of the book “Mi memora, es mi verdad” (My memory, is my truth), vigorously refuted his assertion on the same TV network.
